Gas Entec And Ag&P Consortium To Build Lng Terminal In Jordan

A consortium comprising liquified natural gas (LNG) infrastructure company GAS Entec, AG&P, and local partner Issa Haddadin has been awarded a contract to construct an onshore regasification LNG terminal in Jordan.  

Called the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah LNG Terminal Project, the terminal will be located in the Port of Aqaba.

The tender, granted by Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), will see the consortium undertake full engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the facility.  

The project includes a 720 million standard cubic feet per day onshore LNG regasification facility, marine works, and jetty topside work.

It is expected to be completed and operational within 22 months. 

Recognised as a critical energy initiative for Jordan, the terminal is expected to address the country’s challenges with natural gas supply reliability.

The facility, Jordan’s first permanent onshore LNG terminal, will enhance the country’s ability to diversify its LNG sources.

This advancement will ensure a stable and reliable energy supply to meet both its power and industrial needs. 

GAS Entec commercial head and AG&P senior vice-president Nishant Sharma said: “We are honoured to have been chosen for this critical project, which shall significantly contribute to Jordan’s energy security and its economic development.  

“The trust ADC has placed in GAS Entec and AG&P underscores our dedication towards customer-centric solutions and our ability to deliver cost-effective, world-class LNG infrastructure.” 

ADC head of energy unit Omar Albadour said: “We are privileged to have reputed LNG infrastructure partners like GAS Entec and AG&P to deliver this strategic project, which shall be a milestone in our country’s continued transition towards reliable energy. We look forward to the project’s commissioning by Q2 [second quarter] 2026.” 

GAS Entec said the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah LNG Terminal Project will bolster its and AG&P’s status as LNG terminal developers, adding to their portfolio of terminals, floating storage and regasification unit, and floating storage unit, as well as LNG bunkering ships across the world.
