FactoryTempel Canada inaugurated its expanded manufacturing facility in Burlington, Ont., on June 24, representing an investment of US$85 million aimed at boosting transformer core production. The new 250,000-square-foot facility is expected to create over 100 jobs and enhance production capacity to meet rising demand for energy infrastructure across North America.
This development is significant as it aligns with the growing need for advanced energy solutions and infrastructure improvements across the continent.

The company said the facility represents an US$85-million investment and is expected to create more than 100 jobs. Tempel Canada manufactures transformer cores and related components used in electrical transformers for power transmission and distribution applications.
Located on Palladium Way, the new facility spans approximately 250,000 square feet, more than doubling the footprint of the company’s previous Burlington operation.
According to Tempel Canada, the additional space will support expanded production capacity, improved workflow, advanced manufacturing technologies and future growth opportunities.
Approximately 150 people attended the grand opening, including employees, customers, suppliers, family members, friends and other visitors.
The event featured remarks from Evan Solomon, Canada’s minister of artificial intelligence and digital innovation, Cliff Nastas, CEO of Tempel Steel Company, and Chris Brown, vice-president of transformer cores at Tempel Canada. Sima Acan, MP for Oakville West, also attended.
The company said the expanded facility will significantly increase transformer core production capacity, helping meet growing demand tied to grid modernization, electrification and energy infrastructure projects across North America.
Tempel Canada is part of Worthington Steel and supplies transformer core products used by manufacturers of electrical transformers for power conversion and distribution applications.
