The UAE has agreed to help finance the $25-billion Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project.
Announced by Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali on May 6, the project is also set to receive funding from the European Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund.
Spanning 5,660 km across 13 West African countries, the pipeline will have a transport capacity of 30 billion m3 and will transport Nigerian gas to Europe via Morocco. First gas shipments are planned for 2029.
