Germany Awards 2.5 Gw Of Onshore Wind And 0.5 Gw Of Solar-Plus-Storage

The

Federal Network Agency in Germany

has published

the results of the latest tenders for onshore wind and innovative projects

with a bidding date set for 1 May 2026 (Federal Network Agency, 25/06/2026).

The

onshore wind tender

was significantly

oversubscribed

,

attracting 628 bids totalling 6,409 MW

for

an auctioned volume of 2,495 MW

. The Federal Network Agency selected

270 projects with a volume of 2,499 MW

, with price ranging from EUR4.44c/kWh and EUR5.19c/kWh. Thirteen bids had to be excluded from the process. The

average volume-weighted award price

reached

EUR5.06c/kWh

, which is

9% lower than the previous round

. Since August 2024, the average price has declined by more than EUR2c/kWh over seven bidding rounds. Most of the projects were awarded in Lower Saxony (70 awards, 628 MW), Brandenburg (47 awards, 468 MW) and North Rhine-Westphalia (31 awards, 353 MW).

Similarly, the

innovation tender

was also

oversubscribed

, with

46 bids totalling 749 MW

for

a tendered volume of 475 MW

.

27 projects totalling 482 MW were selected

, all of them solar-plus-storage plants, at an average price of EUR5.34c/kWh, comparable to the previous round. Prices ranged from EUR4.75c/kWh to EUR5.61c/kWh. Many projects were awarded in Bavaria (15 awards, 287 MW), Schleswig-Holstein (2 awards, 53 MW), and Brandenburg (2 awards, 51 MW).
