The government of Ghana has begun work on what will become the nation’s largest solar project, marking a major step toward expanding the country’s renewable energy capacity. The Norbert Anku solar park is being developed in the Dawa Industrial Enclave in the Greater Accra region. The project is led by Solar for Industries Ltd., a subsidiary of LMI Holdings, one of Ghana’s prominent conglomerates. It will be built in two phases of 100 MW each. The first phase is expected to be completed by December 2026, while the second phase is planned to connect to the national grid nine months after the first.
The Ghanaian presidency announced that the project’s capacity is planned to grow further, reaching 1 GW by 2032. This long-term expansion would make it the largest solar farm in sub-Saharan Africa outside South Africa. The project brings together several international and local partners, including International Finance Corp., Enclave Power Co., John Murphy Construction, China International Water and Electric Corp., and SgurrEnergy.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, President John Mahama highlighted the importance of the project, saying it reflects increasing investor confidence in Ghana’s energy sector. He encouraged the project team to work with dedication so that the solar park would become a symbol of Ghana’s clean industrial progress. He described the project as a significant step toward the country’s clean industrial revolution.
Once operational, the solar park is expected to benefit companies located within the Dawa Industrial Enclave by offering a 10% discount on the electricity generated. This is expected to support industrial growth and provide more affordable power to businesses in the area. According to data from the Africa Solar Industry Association, Ghana currently has 188 MW of installed solar capacity, with 112 MW coming from large-scale plants. The country’s biggest existing solar project is a 50 MW installation developed by the Bui Power Authority as part of a hydro-solar hybrid system. The new Norbert Anku solar park is therefore set to significantly transform the scale of solar development in Ghana.

An IEA survey of solar power applications in Australia shows that the country installed 5.2 GW of solar capacity in 2024 and reached a total of 40 GW, including 26.1 GW of distributed systems and 13.4 GW of centralized installations.
Utility-scale installations of 5 MW or more contributed 2 GW, while rooftop systems across residential, commercial and industrial sites contributed 3.2 GW to the annual total.
Solar installations in 2024 exceeded the cumulative total of all installations completed up to the end of 2015, which stood at 5.1 GW.
“Despite recording a record volume of installations in 2024, Australia did not rank among the world’s top ten markets for annual installations. This marks the second consecutive year outside the top 10, a position it has held since the IEA photovoltaic power systems program (PVPS) began tracking markets in the 1990s,” said the IEA.
For rooftop solar Australia outranks most nations, with 44% of free-standing homes having systems installed, including about 50% of homes in Queensland and South Australia.
“With low insolation relative to the rest of Australia (3.7 kWh per year), Tasmania has only 20% of free-standing homes powered by solar PV,” said the IEA. “South Australia, with a population of 1.77 million, rooftop solar alone has routinely been sufficient to power the state with excess power from rooftop and large scale being exported to neighboring states for over the four hours around mid-day.”
A trend toward larger residential systems has prompted a reclassification of typical system sizes. Residential installations were previously defined as 10 kW or less, up from 3 kW in 2012, and are now defined as up to 15 kW. Commercial systems are classified between 15 kW and 100 kW.
The report notes that Australia’s ambition for utility-scale solar falls into the 10 GW to 30 GW range. Despite incentives such as the Capacity Investment Scheme and its 40 GW target, issues related to connection approvals, congestion management and fragmented access arrangements increase costs and risks for grid-scale projects, the report finds.
Australia ranks in the top ten globally for total installed capacity and records a world-leading installation rate of more than 1.52 kW per capita.
“With an impressive total 26.1 GW of distributed solar and an additional 13.4 GW total centralized solar, combined with excellent insolation, solar power now meets over 20% of the nation’s total electricity demands,” the report says.
The National Survey Report of PV Power Applications in Australia 2024 lists University of New South Wales Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics Director Professor Renate Egan as the lead author, with contributions from experts at six other Australian universities and clean energy specialist businesses.

Hero Future Energies Signs Mou Worth Rs 300 Billion With Andhra Pradesh For 4 Gw Re ProjectsHero Future Energies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Andhra Pradesh to develop 4 GW of renewable energy projects across Ananthapuramu, Kurnool, and Kadapa districts.
The MoU was announced during the AP Govt–Confederation of Indian Industry partnership summit in Visakhapatnam and entails a proposed investment of Rs 300 billion.
The renewable energy projects will be implemented in a phased manner by leveraging HFE’s capabilities in advanced energy technologies and project design.
As per the MoU, state agencies including the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh and the AP Economic Development Board will support the project by expediting clearances and ensuring inter-departmental coordination.

Europe’S Energy Storage Capacity On Track To Pass 100 GwFrom ESS News
The European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland together are expected to reach 100 GW of installed energy storage later this month, according to new analysis by LCP Delta and Energy Storage Europe.
Since 2020, Europe’s energy storage sector has grown rapidly, with different technologies progressing at varying speeds. Pumped hydro remains the largest contributor, accounting for 50.6 GW of installed capacity, including 500 MW added this year in Belgium and Austria. Meanwhile, battery storage has expanded even faster, adding more than 4 GW of utility-scale projects in 2025 alone, according to the analysis.

Europe Set To Hit 100 Gw Of Energy Storage, With More Than 115 Percent Growth Expected By 2030This milestone represents enough capacity to meet the peak electricity demand of Germany and the Netherlands. With storage capacity forecast to grow by a further 115 percent by 2030, this will play a crucial role in Europe’s energy transition, creating more space for renewables on the grid.
Since 2020, energy storage in Europe has experienced rapid growth, with each technology advancing at its own pace. Pumped-hydro storage (PHS) holds the largest share of installed capacity, at 50.6 GW, including 500 MW added this year in Belgium and Austria. Battery storage has expanded more rapidly, with over 4 GW of new utility-scale capacity in 2025 alone.
Commercial and industrial (C&I) storage has grown steadily this year as businesses look to cut energy costs, improve efficiency, and make better use of their renewable energy. Meanwhile, residential battery sales, after significant growth driven by early-2020 subsidies, are now stabilising following their 2022–2023 peak. With costs continuing to fall and targeted schemes in place, several countries are maintaining steady progress.
LCP Delta and Energy Storage Europe believe the energy storage industry is only just getting started and will continue to make a substantial contribution to Europe’s energy transition.
They expect the following:
Energy storage will reach beyond 215 GW by 2030 – with battery storage alone exceeding 160 GW.
By the end of the decade, storage will be deployed at a rate of 20-25GW per year, which is more than 20 times the rate of installation in the 2020s.
Utility-scale energy storage to see strong growth, supported by improving economics, targeted auctions, and other support schemes across countries.
Residential battery sales are expected to recover from 2027, supported by a rebounding PV market, rising electrification of homes and transport, dynamic tariffs, and new financing models.
C&I storage to become increasingly mainstream, with policy, revenue streams, grid rules, and tariffs shaping deployment.
“Reaching 100 GW of installed energy storage across Europe is a key moment for the market” said Silvestros Vlachopoulos, Energy Storage Research Lead at LCP Delta. “It not only unlocks more space for renewables on the grid today but sets the stage for even faster growth in the coming years. Keeping investors and developers engaged will be essential to scaling projects and providing the flexibility needed for Europe’s 2030 targets.”

Nredcap Announces Results Of Its 1.2 Gw Rooftop Solar Projects AuctionThe New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) has announced the results of its 1.2 GW rooftop solar auction to develop projects under the PM Surya Ghar programme. The auction saw 22 distinct winners. These include Sree Sai Electronics, VSA Infra Projects, and Sunworks Energy, securing capacities of 12.07 MW, 13.5 MW, and 13.6 MW, respectively.
Furthermore, Junna Solar Systems, Brihaspathi Technologies, and Surya Cons secured capacities of 16.18 MW, 17.86 MW, and 60.2 MW, respectively. Other winners of the auction were Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, Sadhbav Futuretech, Rotomag Enertec, and Kosol Energie, securing capacities of 77.4 MW, 90 MW, 139.53 MW, and 291.54 MW, respectively. The other 12 bidders collectively secured 71.86 MW.
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work encompasses the design, engineering, supply, and transportation for the project. It also covers the installation, erection, testing and commissioning of the projects. The tender was floated earlier in July 2025.

Ministry Of Power Identifies 224 Gw Of National Potential For Green Energy StorageThe Ministry of Power convened a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Members of Parliament in Andhra Pradesh to discuss the development of pumped storage projects (PSPs).
During the meeting, the Ministry highlighted the critical role of PSPs in storing surplus renewable energy and supporting grid reliability during non-solar hours. MoP recommended the deployment of floating solar installations to address evaporation losses in PSP reservoirs and urged state governments to expedite site and water allocation and consider waiving green energy cess, water taxes and lease fees to accelerate PSP development.
The Ministry reported that a PSP potential of 224 GW has been identified nationwide. Of this, 10 PSPs totaling 7 GW have been commissioned, another 10 PSPs (12 GW) are under construction, and 56 PSPs (78 GW) are in various stages of planning and development. Key policy measures discussed include a 25-year waiver of inter-state transmission system charges for PSPs awarded before June 30, 2028, new guidelines simplifying site allotment and relaxing free power requirements. Additionally, budgetary support for enabling infrastructure and streamlined capital cost thresholds for Central Electricity Authority concurrence.

India Crosses 505 Gw Power Capacity As Solar Leads The Renewable Energy Boom In 2025India’s renewable energy sector is expanding quickly as the country works to meet rising electricity demand while keeping its climate goals on track. By October 2025, coal continued to dominate India’s power system, accounting for 43.22% of the nation’s total installed capacity. Even with this dominance, renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, has been growing rapidly and is becoming a central part of the country’s energy mix. The pace of expansion shows how strongly India is pushing to shift toward cleaner energy sources while maintaining a reliable supply for consumers and industries.
In the first ten months of 2025, India added 32,059.08 MW of new solar capacity, marking a major leap for the sector. This strong momentum has been supported by government efforts to boost quality and encourage local production. One of the most impactful measures has been the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers, which sets strict standards for solar modules and promotes domestic manufacturing. Because of this policy, India reached 116 GW of solar PV module manufacturing capacity by October 2025. This achievement reflects the country’s commitment to reducing dependence on imported components and strengthening its self-reliance in the renewable energy sector.
By the end of October 2025, renewable energy sources made up 39.66% of India’s total installed power capacity. Solar power has contributed the most to this rise. The country’s installed solar capacity reached 129.923 GW, which accounts for 64.87% of the total renewable capacity. Solar energy alone now contributes 25.73% to India’s overall power mix. This represents a 38.23% increase compared to the previous year, showing how quickly solar projects are being deployed across the country. The rapid pace of installation is helping India progress toward its clean energy targets.
India’s total installed power capacity crossed 505 GW in October 2025, showing an annual growth of 11.13%. While this includes a significant rise in renewable energy capacity, coal-based power still generates nearly half of the country’s electricity. This highlights the ongoing challenge of reducing coal dependence while ensuring the power system remains stable and affordable. As more variable renewable energy is added to the grid, issues like grid stability, storage, and uninterrupted supply have become major areas of focus for the power sector.
The expansion of renewable energy is also creating important social and economic gains. Solar and wind projects are providing new employment opportunities, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions. These projects are improving electricity access, supporting local economies, and helping develop remote areas. As a result, the shift toward clean energy is not only contributing to environmental goals but also helping improve the quality of life for many communities across the country.
Increasing the share of renewable energy has strengthened India’s energy security as well. By reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, the country is better protected from global fuel price fluctuations. At the same time, advances in energy storage and grid technologies are helping make renewable energy more reliable and easier to integrate. Global market changes are further opening opportunities for Indian solar manufacturers. Even though coal continues to play a major role, the steady rise of renewable energy—especially solar—shows India’s strong commitment to building a cleaner, more self-reliant, and secure energy future that supports both growth and sustainability.

Inoxgfl Group, Kp Group Sign Mous To Jointly Develop 5 Gw Renewable Projects Across IndiaINOXGFL Group and KP have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to jointly develop 5 GW of renewable energy projects across multiple states in India.
While KPI Green Energy and Inox Solar has signed a MoU to develop 2.5 GW of solar projects across India, KP Energy and Inox Wind has signed another MoU to jointly develop 2.5 GW of wind projects.
Inox Green Energy services will provide the O&M services for the wind turbine generators and solar modules set up across all the projects under the partnership.
Under the first MoU, KPI Green will undertake project development, which includes securing connectivity approvals, land acquisition, right-of-way (ROW) management, statutory approvals, and executing EPC and Balance of Plant (BOP) works. KPI will also supply steel structures (solar MMS) and provide O&M services.
Inox Solar will supply solar modules to the project site and will also undertake precommissioning, commissioning and O&M of the solar modules. This integrated approach enables both organisations to leverage their respective strengths to ensure efficient and high-quality project execution.

Mou, KP Energy will undertake project development activities such as securing connectivity, land and right-of-way, obtaining statutory approvals, and executing Balance of Plant and EPC works. KPE will also manage O&M of Balance of Plant of the project. Inox Wind will supply Wind Turbine Generators and associated equipment, provide engineering support including USS design, transformer specifications, and foundation design, and will execute pre-commissioning, commissioning and O&M of wind turbine generators.

Inoxap To Supply Nitrogen For Grew Energy’S 3 Gw Solar Manufacturing PlantINOX Air Products (INOXAP) has inked a long-term on-site gas supply agreement with Grew Energy Private Limited for the latter’s 3 GW solar PV cell manufacturing facility in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh. As part of the arrangement, INOXAP will provide ultra-high purity nitrogen to meet the precision manufacturing needs of Grew Energy’s solar cell production. Additionally, the company will establish a dedicated pipeline linking its existing air separation unit in Narmadapuram to the Grew Energy facility.
Earlier in December 2024, Grew Energy announced plans to supply 500 MW of solar modules for Jindal Renewables’ solar power project in Rajasthan.
Furthermore, in May 2025, Asahi India Glass Limited signed a 20-year offtake agreement with INOXAP for the supply of green hydrogen to AIS’s new float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.
