SJVN advanced commissioning at its 1 GW Bikaner solar project in Rajasthan after its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Ltd. (SGEL), began commercial operations of an additional 100.56 MW.
Cumulative commissioned capacity now stands at 830.70 MW, with the remaining capacity expected to come online in the near term.
The utility has secured power purchase agreements covering the full project capacity, supplying electricity to Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Offtakers include Uttarakhand Power Corp. Ltd. for 200 MW, Jammu and Kashmir Power Corporation Ltd. for 300 MW, and Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd. for 500 MW.

Seg Solar Starts Building 3 Gw Solar Ingot, Wafer Factory In IndonesiaU.S. solar manufacturer SEG Solar has broken ground on a 3 GW ingot and wafer factory in Indonesia.
The facility will be located in the Batang regency on the north coast of the central Java province of Indonesia. Covering an area of approximately 50,000 sqm, the project is scheduled to commence production by the third quarter of 2026. SEG also plans to implement a second project phase, taking ingot and wafer production capacity to 5 GW.
SEG is set to fully fund the approximately $80 million required for the project. The company says the investment is a key step in its strategy to establish a fully-integrated, non-Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) supply chain that supports the U.S. solar market.
With a solar module facility in the U.S. and solar cell manufacturing facility in Batang already in operation, SEG adds that the ingot and wafer factory also establishes an end-to-end manufacturing chain for the company.
The company first signed an 80-year lease in Indonesia to develop an integrated industrial solar park in Batang in June 2023. The solar cell factory was commissioned in May 2025, only seven months after construction got underway, with the production of the company’s n-type cells.
“With complementary production capabilities in the United States and Indonesia, SEG is positioned to deliver a fully traceable and non-FEOC supply chain that meets current and upcoming requirements for the U.S. solar industry,” commented Jun Zhuge, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PT SEG Solar Manufaktur.

Iran Grants Permits For 100 Gw Of Solar Power Projects To Boost Renewable Energy InvestmentIran has issued construction permits for nearly 100,000 MW of solar power projects as part of its efforts to attract private sector investment and strengthen the country’s renewable energy capacity. The move was confirmed by Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi, Deputy for Investment at the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, known as SATBA, who said the permits were aimed at encouraging wider participation in the clean energy sector.
Sigaroudi explained that renewable energy sources such as solar and wind could play an important role in meeting a portion of Iran’s electricity demand. However, he cautioned that not all approved projects would be developed. According to his estimate, only about 15% of the issued permits are likely to be converted into operational power generation capacity, reflecting challenges related to financing, infrastructure, and project execution.
Iran is currently facing a significant power supply gap, estimated at around 23,000 to 24,000 MW. While renewables alone cannot fully bridge this shortfall, Sigaroudi said they can help reduce the pressure on the national grid and support energy balance, especially during peak demand periods.
He also pointed to global trends, noting that renewable energy accounted for around 46% of electricity generation worldwide in 2024. Sigaroudi added that several countries with fewer natural resources than Iran have made stronger progress in renewables, suggesting that Iran has considerable untapped potential in solar and wind power development.

De Green Rhino Energy, Uk’S Green Power Partner To Develop Us$160 Million 150 Mw Solar Power Plant In MaronderaDe Green Rhino Energy has partnered with UK-based Green Power to develop a 150 MW solar power plant in Marondera, marking a major renewable energy investment in Zimbabwe.
The project, which will be developed at Rufaro Farm in Marondera, will involve an investment of approximately US$160 million and is set to become the country’s largest solar power facility once completed. Construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of next year, with project completion targeted for 2027.
Green Power Chief Executive Officer Jordan Assassa said the solar plant is expected to supply electricity to more than 250,000 households, while also supporting public infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.
Assassa said the investment reflects growing confidence among foreign investors in Zimbabwe’s energy sector, adding that the project aims to demonstrate the country’s readiness to attract international capital into large-scale renewable energy developments.
De Green Rhino Energy General Manager Francis Gogwe said the project is expected to create around 500 jobs during the construction phase, contributing to local employment and economic activity in the Marondera region.
The solar power plant aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and improve electricity access through private sector participation and foreign investment.

Chinese Pv Industry Brief: Powerchina Launches 31 Gw Solar ProcurementPowerChina has launched its 2026 centralized equipment procurement program, issuing tenders covering 97 GW of renewable and grid equipment to secure supply-chain stability through framework agreements. The program includes 35 GW of wind turbines, 31 GW of solar modules and 31 GW of solar inverters for 2026 projects, with bids due by Dec. 24, 2025. The solar module tender is split into n-type TOPCon at 24 GW, HJT at 3 GW and BC technologies at 4 GW, all requiring bifacial compatibility and cell sizes of 182 millimeters and above. The inverter tender covers integrated cabinet inverters above 3.125 MW at 8 GW, string inverters above 300 kW at 20 GW and smaller string inverters from 10 kW to 150 kW at 3 GW. PowerChina said procurement will be conducted through framework shortlists, with suppliers selected via secondary competitive processes.
Three Gorges Group has released the results of its 2026 solar procurement, shortlisting six module suppliers across a 2.5 GW tender, including JinkoSolar, Tongwei, Longi, Astronergy and JA Solar, with bid prices ranging from CNY 0.75 ($0.11)/W to CNY 0.763/W. In a related 3 GW inverter tender, shortlisted suppliers for 300 kW to 400 kW string inverters include Sungrow, Chungwang Xinyun Intelligent Technology, Zhuzhou Converters National Engineering Research Center, Sungrow Electric and Xiamen Kehua Digital Energy Technology.
Longi has terminated its planned global depositary receipt issuance and Swiss listing after the approval period for the 2022 proposal expired. The plan, approved by the board and shareholders, had targeted nearly CNY 20 billion, equivalent to $2.75 billion, in proceeds. Longi said external market changes and the lapse of regulatory approvals led it to halt the global depositary receipt plan following a review with advisers.

Waaree Energies Expands Samakhiali Plant By 1.5 Gw, Bringing Total Module Capacity To 3 Gw In GujaratWaaree Energies Limited, one of India’s leading solar module manufacturers and a provider of integrated clean energy solutions, has further enhanced its domestic production capabilities by adding 1.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity at its Samakhiali plant in Kutch, Gujarat. This expansion follows the recent commissioning of two high-efficiency module lines of 750 MW each at the same facility, bringing the total new capacity added at Samakhiali to 1.5 GW. With this development, the Samakhiali plant now has an annual manufacturing capacity of 3 GW, making it one of Waaree’s most advanced hubs.

India Adds 132.85 Gw Solar Capacity By November 2025, Including 34.98 Gw In 2025, Driving Renewable GrowthIndia has made remarkable progress in expanding its renewable energy sector, with solar power emerging as the primary driver of this transformation. By the end of November 2025, the country had installed a total of 132,848.25 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity. This accounts for over 65 percent of the total renewable energy capacity in India, excluding large hydro projects, reflecting the growing importance of solar in the nation’s energy mix. The steady decline in solar panel prices, technological advancements, supportive government policies, and rising public awareness of clean energy have collectively fueled this growth.
Between January and November 2025, India added 34,983.53 MW of new solar capacity. November alone saw an addition of 2,924.43 MW, representing a 2.25 percent increase over the previous month. Wind energy also grew during this period, with 386.1 MW added in November, indicating a broader commitment to renewable energy diversification. By November 2025, the total renewable energy capacity in India, excluding large hydro projects, reached 203.606 GW. Solar and wind together contributed 186.834 GW, forming over 91 percent of the non-large hydro renewable energy mix.
Within the solar segment, ground-mounted systems remain the largest component with 100 GW installed, while rooftop solar systems have reached 23.16 GW, showing increased adoption among households, industries, and commercial establishments. Solar-wind hybrid projects, totaling 3.34 GW, are becoming more common as they improve land utilization and transmission efficiency. Off-grid solar systems, including solar lanterns, agricultural water pumps, and mini-grids, have exceeded 5.55 GW, enhancing clean power access in rural areas and replacing diesel-based generation.
Government policies have played a crucial role in driving this expansion. The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has encouraged domestic manufacturing of solar equipment, reducing reliance on imports. The Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) policy, reintroduced in April 2024, mandates that government-supported projects use only certified solar modules, with plans to extend the requirement to solar PV cells from June 2026. Tax incentives have also contributed, with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on solar PV modules and wind turbine generators reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent, lowering capital costs and supporting faster deployment.
Despite the positive momentum, challenges remain. Land acquisition for large solar parks is increasingly difficult, and grid integration of variable solar power requires better transmission infrastructure and balancing technologies. Additionally, while manufacturing capacity is expanding, global trade dynamics and supply chain risks, including shifting export markets, pose challenges.
Overall, India’s renewable energy sector shows strong growth, led by solar power. Continued policy support, technology improvements, and expanding adoption across ground-mounted, rooftop, and off-grid systems will be critical to achieving the country’s 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030, provided remaining obstacles are effectively addressed.

Ireland Reaches 1 Gw Of Installed Rooftop Pv CapacityIreland’s solar association, Solar Ireland, has announced that Ireland has surpassed 1 GW of installed rooftop solar capacity.
More than 170,000 rooftops across the country now host solar panels, and several Irish energy stakeholders – including Solar Ireland – marked the 1 GW rooftop achievement at an event at Fingallians GAA Club in Swords, a sports club in Ireland’s capital Dublin, where a 120-panel installation will generate more than 51,000 kWh a year, avoid 18 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and pay back within three to five years.
The system was installed at the sports facility by local installer, SolarSmart and supported by local government. Commenting at the event, Ronan Power Solar Ireland CEO, said that Ireland reaching 1 GW of nationwide rooftop solar was a “national demonstration of what happens when policy certainty, public support and industry capability align.”
He added that rooftop solar can remain one of Ireland’s most “successful and inclusive climate solutions.” Expanding rooftop solar capacity at a local scale has been a big policy focus of the Irish government in recent times, with grants for small-scale and residential solar issued through the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI). In November, the government confirmed the grant for residential rooftop solar would remain at its current level of €1,800 in 2026 – good news for householders.
Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, referred to the householders in his remarks on the 1 GW rooftop solar news, claiming: “This progress shows exactly why continued support through SEAI grants and targeted investment in small-scale and community renewables is so important. When Government, system operators and the industry work together, we can deliver real change on the ground – and today’s milestone is proof of that.”
The SEAI’s CEO, William Walsh, added that the 1 GW announcement is reflective of the “incredible momentum in retrofit across all sectors”, while the Managing Director of Ireland's distribution systems operator, ESB Networks, Nicholas Tarrant said that approximately 50,000 solar installations are being completed annually on homes, farms, businesses, and within communities.
In November, Solar Ireland reported that Ireland's national installed solar capacity across all generation types had reached 2.1 GW.

Eu Installs 65.1 Gw Of Solar In 2025The European Union deployed 65.1 GW of solar this year, according to SolarPower Europe’s EU Solar Market Outlook 2025-2030.
The figure is a 0.7% decrease on the 65.6 GW installed in 2024, the report says, making 2025 the first year since 2016 when less solar was added than the year before.
The bloc’s total solar fleet now stands at 406 GW, ahead of the 400 GW target set for the end of this year by the 2022 EU Solar Strategy.
However, SolarPower Europe is warning that the EU is falling off the pace of achieving the strategy’s 750 GW target for 2030, with two further years of market decline expected.
Based on the association’s medium scenario, total solar installations are expected to drop beneath 62 GW in 2026 and to little under 60 GW in 2027. Year-on-year installations are then expected to begin climbing again, driven by storage, flexibility, electrification and improvement in framework conditions, but are only forecast to surpass this year’s result in 2030, when the medium scenario expects almost 68 GW to be added.
The medium scenario projection would see the EU's solar fleet hit 718 GW by 2030, falling more in line with the aggregate solar target from EU Member States’ National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), which currently stands at 701 GW by 2030.
SolarPower Europe attributes the faltering market to an ailing residential solar segment. Home rooftop solar accounted for 14% of solar additions in the EU this year, compared to 19% last year and 28% in 2023. The association explains that the market segment has been impacted by an uncertain post-energy crisis environment that has seen rooftop support schemes cut and the perceived softening of energy price pressure on households.
Utility-scale solar accounted for more than half of total deployment this year for the first time, but the segment is still facing challenges associated with profitability due to increasing numbers of negative energy prices, as well as curtailments, grid congestion and unresolved flexibility and storage needs.
In the report’s forward, SolarPower Europe’s Walburga Hemetsberger, Dries Acke and Michael Schmela write that this year’s outlook delivers a clear wake-up call to policymakers, before adding that with decisive and coordinated action, Europe can still reverse the current negative trend.
“The EU urgently needs a decisive push on flexibility with a dedicated EU Flexibility Strategy that unlocks the enormous potential of battery storage and demand-side flexibility,” the trio wrote. “Without this, Europe will not only miss its 2030 solar targets. If solar – the EU’s largest and fastest-growing clean technology – fails to pick up in the next years, the EU will certainly miss its 2030 renewables target of 42.5%.”
Elsewhere in the report, SolarPower Europe notes the number of GW-scale solar markets in the EU decreased for the first time in a decade this year, with 14 Member States adding over 1 GW of solar in 2025, two less than last year.
Germany and Spain continued to lead the EU’s solar market in 2025, while France replaced Italy in the top three. Romania and Bulgaria entered the top ten solar markets for the first time, with Romania experiencing the fastest growth rate.

Brazil To Add 11.4 Gw Of Solar In 2025 Despite Regulatory HurdlesFrom pv magazine Brazil
The Brazilian PV market could see its second consecutive year of contraction, with 2026 additions expected to reach 10.6 GW, a 24% decline from the 15 GW added in 2024. Brazilian photovoltaic association ABSolar warned that regulatory barriers related to curtailment, high capital costs, and restricted access for self-generation systems may discourage new investments and reduce employment in the sector.
Large-scale solar projects face financial losses from curtailment without compensation. Small- and medium-sized PV systems encounter grid-connection barriers, often justified by perceived constraints or concerns over power flow reversal, discouraging consumers from self-generating clean electricity.
ABSolar said Brazil’s high cost of capital, with interest rates near 15% per year, volatile US dollar exchange rates, and elevated import duties on photovoltaic equipment as constraints on new investment.
The association projects BRL 31.8 billion ($5.8 billion) in new solar investments in 2026, down from roughly BRL 40 billion in 2025. Job creation is expected to fall from 396,500 in 2025 to 319,900 next year. Sector revenue is projected to decline from more than BRL 13 billion in 2025 to around BRL 10.5 billion in 2026.
By the end of 2026, Brazil’s cumulative installed PV capacity is expected to exceed 75.9 GW, including 51.8 GW from residential and commercial systems and 24.1 GW from large-scale plants connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
ABSolar plans to present proposals to presidential candidates in 2026 calling for compensation for curtailment losses, easier connections for small and medium self-generation systems, and clearer regulations for electricity storage to alleviate market bottlenecks.
The association will also continue working with Brazilian authorities and the electricity sector on expanding transmission and distribution infrastructure, improving system operations, regulating Storage Capacity Reserve Auctions (LRCAP), valuing distributed generation, modernizing tariffs, and implementing electricity-sector reforms under Law No. 15,269/2025.
Despite the market slowdown, solar remains Brazil’s leading source of new generating capacity, accounting for 68% of additions through November 2025, including both distributed and centralized generation.
