MSEB Agro Power Limited, a subsidiary of the MSEB Holding Company Limited, has floated a tender for the procurement of 1.6 GW of decentralised ground-mounted solar projects under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0.
The scope of work under the project includes financing, ownership, design, construction, and operation of the solar projects at the feeder level across the state. Furthermore, the scope also includes providing operations and maintenance services for a period of 25 years.
According to the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 100,000. Additionally, the successful bidders need to furnish a performance bank guarantee of Rs 500,000. The last date for bid submission is August 28, 2025. The projects are expected to begin commercial operations within 12 months from the date of issuance of letter of award.

Additionally, the collaboration combines Gentari’s experience in large-scale renewable energy operations with Gamuda’s background in the engineering, construction and delivery of infrastructure projects. Demand from hyperscale data centres, driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services, is projected to exceed 5,000 MW by 2035. This project is being undertaken to address the growing requirement for reliable renewable energy supply to support such facilities.
Earlier this month, Gentari signed a power purchase agreement with Amazon Web Services for an 80 MW wind project in Tamil Nadu, expected to begin operations in mid-2027 and generate around 300,000 MWh of renewable energy annually.

Guthrie And Gamuda To Develop 1.2 Gw Solar Projects In MalaysiaSD Guthrie Berhad (Guthrie) and Gamuda Energy have signed an agreement to jointly develop, own, and operate solar power projects with energy storage systems, in Malaysia. These projects will have a combined capacity of 1,200 MW. The partnership will utilise Guthrie’s land resources across Malaysia along with Gamuda’s experience in renewable energy development in the Asia Pacific region.
As a part of the agreement, in the first phase, both companies will identify Guthrie’s under-utilised land across the country to evaluate their suitability for solar project development. Further details on the implementation of the partnership will reportedly be announced at a later stage.
In July 2025, Gamuda Energy signed an agreement with the Downie family to co-develop over 600 MW of wind and solar projects along with 600 MW of battery storage projects in Central Tasmania, Australia. The company will take an equity stake in the portfolio, secure development rights, and deliver the projects under engineering, procurement, and construction contracts..

Miso’S Fast-Track Interconnection Review Draws 26.6 Gw In Proposals, Dominated By GasGas-fired generating capacity accounted for about three-quarters of the 26,575 MW that has applied to take part in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s fast-track interconnection review process, the grid operator said Tuesday.
MISO received 47 applications for its Expedited Resource Addition Study, which aims to bring power supplies online quickly to meet near-term grid needs. The process allows planned resources that meet eligibility criteria to sidestep MISO’s standard interconnection queue reviews.
ERAS projects must meet a clear resource adequacy or reliability need, be able to come online in three to six years and have support from a “relevant electric retail regulatory authority,” such as a state utility commission.
Most applications were gas-fired projects, while storage projects accounted for about 15% of the proposed capacity and wind, solar and a nuclear project in Iowa made up about 4.5%, 4% and 2.5% of the capacity, respectively, according to MISO’s list of projects.
“This broad mix underscores MISO’s evolving energy landscape and the urgent need to bring new resources online to address growing reliability challenges,” Aubrey Johnson, MISO’s vice president of system planning, said in a press release. “These projects are designed to meet localized and accelerating demand growth.”
MISO will study ERAS projects on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first quarterly study beginning on Sept. 2. Under the ERAS process, MISO will study up to 10 projects per quarter, up to a maximum of 68 projects before the program ends on Aug. 31, 2027.
Proposals from Louisiana include five gas-fired power plants totaling 6,170 MW and a 208-MW storage project, according to MISO. Potential projects in Indiana include three gas-fired projects totaling 4,100 MW and three storage projects totaling 1,470 MW. Proposals from Minnesota include five storage projects totaling 1,250 MW, two gas-fired power plants totaling 824 MW, two solar projects totaling 193 MW and a 162-MW wind project.
Applications for the next quarterly review cycle are due Nov. 9.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved similar fast-track interconnection reviews for the PJM Interconnection and the Southwest Power Pool earlier this year.

Renewables Make Up 91% Of The 15 Gw Of Generation The Us Added In First 5 Months Of 2025: FercThe latest infrastructure report, which covers January through May, predates the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the Republican domestic policy megabill that stripped away tax credits for renewable energy. It also predates several stop-work orders the administration issued to wind projects and new guidance from the Treasury Department that could further restrict the growth of renewables.
Still, the report highlights the scale of the solar and wind project pipeline at a time when the country’s hunger for energy is growing. It also suggests the trend will continue.
Out of 133 GW of “high probability” additions expected to come online by 2028, FERC projects that 84% will be from solar (90 GW) and wind (23 GW). Gas is projected to make up about 20 GW — just 15%.
“This reaffirms what we’re seeing in the market, which is solar continues to deliver new power to the grid faster and cheaper than any other source of electricity,” said Stephanie Bosh, senior vice president of communications for the Solar Energy Industries Association. “Despite the Trump administration putting its thumb on the scale to slow solar down, the American people are demanding low-cost, reliable power, and solar is stepping up to meet that demand every day."
According to the nonprofit Sun Day campaign, solar has been the largest source of new generating capacity added each month for 21 consecutive months, since September 2023.
The organization also said in a statement that at least 25%-30% of U.S. solar capacity comes from small-scale systems, such as rooftop arrays, that are not included in FERC’s data.
“Including that additional solar capacity would bring the share provided by solar + wind to more than a quarter of the nation’s total,” it said. Including hydropower (7.7%), biomass (1%) and geothermal (0.3%), “renewables currently claim a 32% share of total U.S. utility-scale generating capacity.”
The FERC report does not track battery storage or small-scale solar.
In addition to new generation, the grid saw 244 miles of new transmission lines reach completion, including 160 miles of 345 kV transmission built in Colorado by the Public Service Co. of Colorado.

New Jersey, Keyport: A Massachusetts company has unveiled plans for a high-voltage transmission line to deliver offshore wind power from the New Jersey coast to the state’s grid.
Anbaric, based in Wakefield, calls the project the Boardwalk Power Link. It would be a 1,200 MW line, landing in Keyport, Monmouth County, and running nearly 33 km (21 mi) underground to South Brunswick in Middlesex County. There, it would connect to a new substation next to an existing power plant.
The line would not serve New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm, Ocean Wind, off Atlantic City, but would be available for other future projects. With the state aiming for 7,500 MW of wind power by 2035, Anbaric sees its project as a key piece of infrastructure.
“It became extremely clear that there were going to be opportunities to bring all this energy onshore,” said Janice Fuller, Anbaric’s mid-Atlantic president.
Environmental permits have already been secured from the state, with more applications in progress. Construction and connection could take up to five years.
Supporters say the project places transmission closer to New Jersey’s biggest demand centres. Critics stress the importance of ensuring transmission is ready before new wind farms are built, the “chicken-and-egg” of offshore power.

Gentari & Gamuda Partner To Build 1.5 Gw Of Solar And Bess In MalaysiaMalaysian clean energy provider Gentari and engineering and construction firm Gamuda have partnered to develop 1.5 GW of renewable energy capacity to meet the rising power demands of hyperscale data centers in Malaysia.
Through their respective subsidiaries named Gentari Renewables and Gamuda Energy, the companies plan to build solar PV power plants integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS). These projects are being implemented under Malaysia’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
As of the end of 2024, Malaysia had an installed solar capacity of around 2 GW, accounting for approximately 5% of total electricity generation capacity. The country has set ambitious targets to achieve 40% renewable capacity in its power mix by 2035, and to reach a 17% share of renewables in the overall energy mix by 2040.

China First To Surpass 1,000 Gw Solar CapacityChina: China has passed a historic milestone in renewable energy by becoming the first country to surpass 1,000 GW of installed solar power capacity. According to the China Electricity Council (CEC), the country added 210 GW of new solar systems in the first six months of 2025, taking its total installed capacity to 1,100 GW.
This figure is larger than the entire solar capacity of the United States, which stood at around 178 GW at the end of 2024, and far ahead of Germany, which had reached 100 GW.
The CEC reported that newly added generation capacity in the first half of 2025 totalled 290 GW, with 210 GW from solar and 50 GW from wind, which is almost double the additions of the same period in 2024.
China’s strategy is rooted in reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels while building industrial strength in renewable energy, storage, and electromobility. Officials expect annual renewable additions of 200–300 GW during the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
For the full year 2025, over 500 GW of new power capacity is planned, with about 400 GW coming from renewables. Total installed power generation capacity is projected to reach 3.9 TW by year’s end, a 16.5 % rise compared to 2024.
Analysts note that solar generation in China during 2025 alone will equal around half the annual output of all nuclear power plants worldwide. By 2030, China’s solar capacity could reach 2,500 GW, consolidating its global leadership in renewables.

Jakson Engineers Limited To Invest ₹8,000+ Crore Inn 6 Gw Integrated Solar Manufacturing Plant In Madhya Pradesh, Boosting India’S Renewable Energy GrowthJakson Engineers Limited, part of the diversified energy and infrastructure solutions conglomerate Jakson Group, has announced a major investment of over ₹8,000 crore to establish a 6 GW integrated solar manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. The plant, to be located at Maksi Phase II, will be the largest solar manufacturing investment in the state and represents a significant step for both the company and India’s renewable energy ambitions.
The project will be developed in two phases across 110 acres of land recently allocated to the company. 3.6 Gw Of Ccgt Projects In Saudi Arabia Reach Financial CloseACWA Power and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), in collaboration with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), have announced the financial close of the Rumah 1 and Nairyah 1 Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects, representing a total investment of approximately SAR15bn (US$4bn).
The Rumah 1 IPP project involves the development of a 1.8 CCGT power plant in Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia. This facility will be developed and operated by Remal Energy Company, the project company. Similarly, the Nairyah 1 IPP project includes the construction of a second 1.8 GW CCGT power plant located in the Eastern Province of the country. The project will be implemented by Naseem Energy Company, which will act as the project company.
The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) will serve as the principal buyer for both projects, overseeing the tendering process and the long-term purchase of electricity generated by the plants. Ownership of the two project companies is divided among the three partners, with ACWA Power and Saudi Electricity Company each holding a 35% stake, while KEPCO holds the remaining 30%. Additionally, both plants have been designed to allow for the future integration of carbon capture technologies.
Saudi Arabia has set a target of achieving 50% renewables in its power mix by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2060.

Jakson Engineers, part of the energy and infrastructure conglomerate Jakson Group, will invest more than INR 80 billion to build a 6 GW integrated solar module, cell, and wafer manufacturing plant at Maksi Phase II in Madhya Pradesh.
The project will be developed in two phases on a 110-acre site recently allocated to the company. Site work will begin within 15 days. In Phase I, Jakson will commission 3 GW of solar modules and 3 GW of solar cells with an investment of about INR 20 billion. Phase II will add a 6 GW solar wafer plant and another 3 GW each of modules and cells, with an investment of more than INR 60 billion.
The first solar modules from the plant are expected in May 2026, followed by cells in September 2026.

India’S Solar Market Hits 100 Gw Module Capacity, Poised For 190 Gw By 2027 – Sbi Capital ReportIndia’s solar sector is undergoing a period of rapid growth, driven by strong government support and a favorable global environment. Over the past two years, the country has seen a significant increase in solar module manufacturing capacity, which has now reached an impressive 100 GW. This growth has been fueled by initiatives such as the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) program. These policies have helped India strengthen its position in solar manufacturing, resulting in a 60% year-on-year rise in solar energy additions in FY25, reaching around 24 GW. The high demand for modules has required roughly 50 GW of capacity to support new installations. With targets of installing 40-50 GW annually in the coming years, maintaining a steady-state module capacity of 100 GW is essential.
Despite this expansion, there are potential challenges on the horizon. India’s projected solar manufacturing capacity of 190 GW by 2027 could create an oversupply situation. This is partly due to declining export opportunities, especially to the United States, where new regulations have phased out incentives for solar projects. In response, some Indian manufacturers are considering establishing onshore facilities in the US to remain competitive in the global market.
While module production is growing strongly, the country’s cell manufacturing capacity is still catching up and currently stands at less than 30 GW. To address this gap, the government has introduced ALMM-II for cells. This policy requires the use of domestically produced cells for projects with bid submissions after August 31, 2025, including those under net metering or open-access rules. By applying to commercial and industrial (C&I) projects, this policy will provide a boost to domestic cell manufacturers and help India move toward self-sufficiency in the medium term. However, higher prices for domestically sourced cells could temporarily increase project costs and affect bid activity until the market adjusts. To ease this transition, approximately 100 GW of projects bid since December 2024 are exempted from the new requirements, providing a buffer against immediate price increases.
Further up the supply chain, India’s domestic presence in wafers and polysilicon remains minimal, with China continuing to dominate these markets. India aims to achieve nearly 40 GW of wafer manufacturing capacity by March 2027, but progress has been slow. A new rule clarifying that only cells made from “blue wafers” will qualify as domestic is a positive development. Meanwhile, the global polysilicon market has experienced volatility, with prices surging 35-40% following China’s plan to shut down a significant portion of its production. This has placed pressure on global players who lack full integration from polysilicon to module, highlighting the advantage of India’s PLI scheme, which encourages complete integration and gives Indian manufacturers a competitive edge.
Overall, Indian solar companies are performing better than many international peers in terms of margins and growth. Integrated manufacturers are particularly well-positioned to manage input costs and benefit from the tight supply of cells, while standalone module makers may see more variability in returns. This has prompted some companies to diversify into related areas, including inverters, battery storage, and independent power production. Although current policies and strong demand have created a “golden period” for the Indian solar industry, there remains a long-term question about whether the sector will eventually experience cycles similar to those seen in policy-driven industries like steel.
The combination of government incentives, domestic manufacturing expansion, and global market dynamics has positioned India as a key player in the solar industry. The coming years will be crucial in determining whether India can balance supply and demand, achieve self-sufficiency in cells, and sustain long-term growth while navigating potential challenges in exports and cost pressures.
