NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, marked a major milestone as it celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 8 November 2025 at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi. The event highlighted the company’s journey of more than fifty years, during which NTPC has played a central role in powering the nation and supporting India’s shift toward cleaner and sustainable energy solutions. The celebration brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Power, the Board of Directors, and representatives from various power sector public enterprises, along with a large gathering of employees and their families.

The occasion was graced by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Government of India, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he praised NTPC for its significant contribution to the country’s development. He noted that NTPC’s journey over five decades has been filled with achievements that have strengthened the nation’s power sector. He highlighted that NTPC has taken bold steps in adopting innovative technologies such as coal gasification, carbon capture, and the conversion of carbon dioxide into green chemicals. He emphasized that NTPC is the only company in the country that has taken substantial initiatives in this direction, reflecting its commitment to future-ready power solutions.

Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC, also spoke at the event and expressed his gratitude to employees and all stakeholders who have supported the company over the years. He shared that NTPC has aligned itself with India’s ambitious national energy goals and is now aiming higher in its own expansion plans. According to him, NTPC has revised its capacity targets from 130 gigawatts to 149 gigawatts by 2032 and further to 244 gigawatts by 2037. He explained that NTPC’s journey, which began with the commissioning of its first unit at Singrauli, has grown steadily across the country and has remained closely linked with India’s overall development.

A memorable part of the celebration was the felicitation of Ms. Sheetal Devi, a renowned para-archer, who was honored by both Shri Pankaj Agarwal and Shri Gurdeep Singh for her extraordinary achievements in sports. Her recognition added an inspiring touch to the event, underlining NTPC’s commitment to encouraging talent and promoting inclusivity.

The company also released its CSR Coffee Table Book titled ‘Samarthyam’ during the ceremony. The book showcases NTPC’s work in community development and its efforts to support inclusive and sustainable growth across various regions. This release further reflected the company’s dedication not only to power generation but also to contributing positively to society.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from employees, former employees, and their families, which demonstrated the strong bond within the NTPC community. The sense of unity and shared purpose was visible throughout the event. The evening concluded with a soulful live performance by renowned singer Rekha Bhardwaj, which added a warm and memorable ending to the Golden Jubilee celebration.
