The local community is being invited to have their say on the proposed upgrade of the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South, which forms part of the Victorian and Federal government’s $1.2 billion Suburban Road Blitz.
The upgrade of the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South will improve safety and travel times. Solutions that are currently being investigate include the addition of traffic lights, as well as upgraded active transport infrastructure.
Feedback from the community will help to guide early design work, traffic analysis, as well as onsite investigations.
Additional and upcoming planning work on the project will include traffic analysis and modelling, onsite investigations on ground conditions and existing utility services, as well as environmental investigations to understand potential impacts on local flora and fauna.

This initial planning work is expected to be completed in late 2026.
Locals will have the chance to meet and provide feedback or ask questions around the proposed upgrade during an upcoming event on February 28, at the Knox Gardens Community Hall, in Wantirna South.
The Federal and Victorian government’s $1.2 billion Suburban Road Blitz ($1M Federal – $200,000 VIC GOV) aims to provide investment for safer and more efficient roads across Melbourne.
