ORLANDO, Fla., July 16, 2026 — Avianca today is celebrating 15 years of operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO), marking a major milestone in the airline’s long-standing commitment to connecting Central Florida with high-demand destinations throughout Latin America.

Since launching flights to Orlando on July 12, 2011, Avianca has consistently expanded its network footprint at MCO. Today, the carrier offers 32 weekly nonstop frequencies linking Orlando with Bogotá and Medellín in Colombia, and San Salvador in El Salvador.

Avianca’s Orlando operations have experienced exponential growth in recent years. Between 2022 and 2025, annual operations nearly doubled, surging from 990 flights and approximately 136,000 passengers in 2022 to 1,900 flights and more than 301,600 passengers in 2025.

As part of its summer 2026 network expansion, Avianca increased its Bogotá-Orlando service from 14 to 21 weekly flights. Additionally, the airline transitioned its Orlando-Medellín route from seasonal service to a year-round daily operation effective June 1.

The legacy of the airline group’s service at Orlando International Airport dates back to November 2009, when TACA first launched flights between Orlando and San Salvador. Following the integration of Avianca and TACA, Avianca officially assumed and expanded operations in the Orlando market in July 2011.

Celebrating 15 years at MCO reinforces Avianca’s strong positioning in Florida, where it operates more than 100 weekly flights to Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America. This footprint grants Florida travelers’ seamless access to a broader network of over 140 routes across 25 countries.

Passengers traveling from Orlando can also access the Business Class Americas experience on all international routes within the region. This premium product features priority check-in, access to eligible Avianca and Star Alliance lounges, additional baggage allowance, and enhanced LifeMiles accrual. Avianca’s sustained growth in Orlando mirrors its broader commercial expansion across the United States. The airline currently operates more than 400 weekly flights from 14 U.S. gateways and transported over 4.9 million passengers to and from the country in 2025—a 6% increase compared to 2024.
