Miami International Airport (MIA) has opened the first Wait n Rest sleep room facility in North America, introducing a new passenger amenity designed to provide travellers with private spaces to relax, sleep or work while transiting through the airport.

The new facility, located in Concourse D, was officially inaugurated during a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Miami-Dade County officials. The opening marks the second global location for the concept, which provides short stay private rooms inside airport terminals.

The initial site features 15 luxury sleep rooms that can accommodate between one and four passengers. Each room includes hotel standard bedding, touchscreen entertainment and information displays, and access to private showers and bathrooms. Guests are also provided with fresh towels and a curated selection of snacks and beverages.

According to Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the addition enhances passenger comfort and convenience at the airport.

“Thanks to Wait n Rest, finding a comfortable place to get refreshed, recharged and rejuvenated while travelling through MIA just got much easier,” Levine Cava said.

The rooms can be booked for stays of up to eight hours, with hourly pricing starting at $40 for a single traveller. Rates increase depending on the number of occupants, with overnight packages beginning at $200.

Founder and CEO Duilio Sanguineti said the concept responds to changing expectations among modern travellers.

“Airports are evolving from transit spaces into lifestyle environments. Travellers today want more than efficiency. They want comfort, privacy and experiences that feel intentional,” Sanguineti said.

A second Wait n Rest facility is scheduled to open later this year in Concourse H, expanding the service within the airport.
