25.32 Million Travelers Mark the Busiest Year in SAN History

SAN DIEGO, CA — February 18, 2026– San Diego International Airport (SAN) recorded its busiest year ever in 2025, welcoming 25.32 million passengers through Terminals 1 and 2. This milestone represents a 0.3 percent increase over 2024, the previous record-setting year.

“SAN has once again surpassed its highest recorded passenger volume,” said Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. “With the opening of our new Terminal 1 and continued expansion of airline service, 2025 stands out as a truly exceptional year.”

Contributing to growth in 2025, the airlines added or resumed 14 nonstop routes, including:

International travel also added significantly to SAN’s record year, with passenger volumes increasing 8 percent over 2024. Growth was fueled by new international service to Amsterdam on KLM and Panama City on Copa, as well as expanded service by Lufthansa and Japan Airlines.

The new Terminal 1 was a factor in this record-breaking year. During its first months of operation—October through December 2025—passenger traffic increased by more than 11 percent compared to the same period in 2024 when the former Terminal 1 was in operation. The rise was driven in part by JetBlue and Breeze Airways relocating from Terminal 2 to the new Terminal 1 following its opening. For the year, Terminal 1 served 9.68 million passengers, while Terminal 2 handled 15.64 million.

Today, 17 airlines operate at SAN, offering nonstop service to more than 85 destinations worldwide. For information on air traffic reports at SAN, please click here, or view our website, please click here.
