Cambridge, Ont.-based Eclipse Automation is receiving a $6 million investment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), delivered through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative and the Regional Defence Investment Initiative.

The funding will support Eclipse’s investment in digital manufacturing capabilities, including connected data, simulation, immersive technology and AI.

Part of the investment will support the Neuron Centre, a new Centre of Innovation on the company’s Cambridge campus. The facility will house Eclipse’s corporate functions, its Digital Manufacturing Incubator — which includes Mirsee Robotics — and a new immersive technology lab.

The centre is tied to Project Neuron, a company-wide initiative aimed at connecting Eclipse’s information systems and expertise across design, planning, manufacturing and delivery.

Eclipse said it has spent the past three years developing digital capabilities as automation becomes increasingly data-driven and digitally enabled.

The company has more than 25 years of experience in automation engineering and manufacturing, serving sectors including life sciences, electric vehicles, automotive, battery production, heavy machinery, consumer goods and aerospace from facilities in Canada, the U.S., Hungary and Germany.

Eclipse said it is hiring across applications engineering, software and AI, project management, quality, project controls, sales and skilled trades.
