MDA Space Ltd. has officially opened its new high-volume satellite manufacturing facility in Montréal, significantly increasing its production capacity. The 185,000-square-foot expansion, completed in less than two years, is now operational and supports the assembly, integration, and testing of multiple satellites simultaneously.

The facility features advanced automation and augmented-reality tools aimed at enhancing throughput and quality assurance. MDA Space can produce up to 400 satellites annually, including its AURORA satellite product line. Additionally, the site incorporates new engineering processes to improve production efficiency.

This expansion positions MDA Space as a key player in the global satellite market, reflecting Canada's growing role in the space industry.

According to a company press release on May 8, the 185,000‑square‑foot expansion was completed in less than two years and is now fully operational, with satellite production underway. The facility is designed to support the assembly, integration and testing of multiple satellites simultaneously, including MDA Space’s AURORA satellite product line.

MDA said the site incorporates advanced automation, augmented‑reality tools and proprietary testing technology aimed at increasing throughput, reducing validation time and improving quality assurance. The company said the facility is capable of supporting constellation programs producing up to 400 satellites per year.
