Apogee Enterprises Elevates Longtime Finance Leader to CFO

Apogee Enterprises Inc. announced that Mark Augdahl has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Augdahl has served as Apogee’s interim CFO since Jan. 7, 2026.

Apogee officials say Augdahl, who joined the company in 2000, brings nearly four decades of financial leadership experience to the role. Before being appointed interim CFO, he served as chief accounting officer and has held several key finance leadership roles.

“Mark has been an invaluable leader within Apogee for many years, and we are pleased to appoint him as our executive vice president and CFO,” says CEO Donald Nolan. “His deep financial expertise, steady leadership and strong understanding of our business will be instrumental as we continue to execute our strategy and drive long-term value for our customers, employees and shareholders.”

Early Look at Industry Index Shows Tepid Sentiment Among Contract GlaziersThe United States architectural glass and glazing market outlook remains subdued at the start of 2026, according to annual industry research conducted by Key Media & Research (KMR). KMR is the parent company of lass magazine and the provider of GlassData™, a subscription-based platform highlighting key metrics and indicators specific to the glass industry. FGIA Updates Glass Breakage Prevention Report for First Time Since 1996The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has updated a report addressing causes of glass breakage by reducing damage to edges, corners and surfaces. , “Preventing Glass Breakage During Insulating Glass Unit (IGU) Design, Manufacture, Transport, Installation and Use,” was last updated in 1996 and covers IG design for applied loads, fabrication, storage and transport, installation and usage. “Glass breakage occurs when the glass stress from an applied load exceeds the glass strength,” says Amy Becker, FGIA’s glass products specialist and staff liaison for the Preventing Glass Breakage Task Group. “Glass strength varies greatly as a result of small scratches or other surface damage, which act as stress concentrators.” FGIA officials explain that glass is weakened by static fatigue that allows a small and invisible crack, which could resist a short-duration load, to slowly grow when the same load is continuously applied. Total Construction Starts Up 5.4% in 2025 Despite Residential SlumpDodge Construction Network (DCN) reports that construction spending rose in December, propelled by increases in the residential and nonbuilding sectors. DCN’s data shows that total construction starts grew by 2.6% in the final month of 2025, while nonresidential building starts fell by 6.6%, residential starts increased by 1% and nonbuilding starts grew by 16.3%. Year-to-date, total construction starts were up 5.4%, nonresidential starts were up 4.5% and residential starts were down 4.8% when compared to 2024. “Nonbuilding construction, alongside data centers, was the primary engine of growth in 2025, supporting a 5.4% expansion in the total dollar value of starts,” says Sarah Martin, DCN’s associate director of forecasting. “In square footage terms, however, building starts declined 4.7% alongside weaker residential, manufacturing and institutional activity.” According to DCN, commercial starts were up 9.8% in December, in part thanks to growth in offices, data centers, hotels and war

AGNORA Glass Receives $1M Ontario Investment, Announces New HiresThe Ontario government is to AGNORA in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. The funding supports AGNORA’s $7 million investment to boost manufacturing and create 20 new jobs over the next five years. Construction Company Owner Faces Multiple Grand Larceny ChargesThe New York State Police that a construction company owner has been charged with defrauding multiple customers following a 15-month investigation. The department charged Andrew W. Cassata after what officials say was an “extensive investigation regarding multiple larceny cases involving Cassata and his company, MC Construction and Development.” According to the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the department opened an investigation into Cassata’s business dealings in October of 2024. Investigators talked to multiple victims and executed search warrants on Cassata’s companies and residence. Cassata was found to have defrauded multiple customers, alleging to have overcharged clients and not completed the jobs for which he was hired. While executing a search warrant at Cassata’s residence, two non-compliant AR-15 style rifles were located, one of which was loaded.
