ALEC Holdings announced that its subsidiary, ALEC Engineering and Contracting, has received a Letter of Award from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) for the construction of the Sphere Abu Dhabi project.

The contract value is estimated at approximately USD 1.7 billion, with project completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2029.

The project will be developed on Yas Island and is set to become one of the region’s most advanced immersive entertainment destinations.

The scope of work includes the construction of the landmark Sphere Abu Dhabi venue, featuring next-generation immersive entertainment infrastructure, advanced digital display systems, high-capacity performance facilities, and integrated audio-visual technologies.

Sphere Abu Dhabi is expected to replicate the immersive entertainment model introduced by Sphere in Las Vegas, combining ultra-high-resolution media technologies, advanced spatial audio systems, and large-scale experiential entertainment capabilities.

The development forms part of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to strengthen its tourism, culture, and entertainment sectors while further positioning Yas Island as a global leisure and entertainment hub.

Earlier, The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has partnered with Sphere Entertainment Co. to develop the landmark Sphere entertainment venue in Abu Dhabi.

Under the agreement, DCT Abu Dhabi will finance the development of the project, while Sphere Entertainment Co. will provide the technology, creative expertise, and operational support for the venue.
