Polish oil and gas company Orlen and Ukraine's Naftogaz signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on liquefied natural gas (LNG) cooperation on the sidelines of Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk on Thursday.

Orlen sold some 700 MMm3 of gas to Ukraine in 2025 under short-term contracts and plans to sell more than 1 Bm3 of gas to Ukraine in 2026.

Under the agreement Orlen and Naftogaz will analyze how to expand LNG trading.

"In particular, it covers the potential joint or coordinated use of regasification and transmission infrastructure across the Baltic Sea region and Central and Eastern Europe," the companies said in a statement. "Covers identification of commercial and logistical opportunities that could facilitate LNG deliveries to Ukraine, increase supply flexibility and bolster the energy security of both Ukraine and the wider region."
