: Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) announces Michael Senior, P.E., Schnabel Engineering, as the new co-chair of its Anchored Earth Retention Committee joining Vaughn J. Godet, P.E., of Berkel & Company Contractors, and succeeding Jeff Segar, P.E., S.E. of GeoStabilization International.
A senior engineer at Schnabel Engineering, Senior specializes in retaining walls, soil nails, slope stabilization and post-tensioned anchors for dams. Senior has published papers related to anchored earth retention and is actively involved in the ASCE Seattle Section Geotechnical Group as the immediate past president and Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) DC-35 Committee. He holds a master’s degree from Temple University.
The
Anchored Earth Committee
is a joint ADSC-DFI committee of industry-wide professionals who design, construct and supply equipment for temporary and permanent support of retaining structures using ground anchor techniques, such as tiebacks and soil nails. Through the use of education, training, seminars, research, specifications and other means, this committee works with public and private owners, contractors, and suppliers to increase the use, understanding, quality and economy of earth retention structures that use ground anchor techniques.
