AirPlus Renewables is preparing to launch XEVA®, its “Edge Wind Tech” turbine, which is designed to generate electricity closer to where it is used. The company says the system is built for decentralised deployment and can operate in built-up environments where airflow is more complex.

The technology is intended for sites such as hospitals, data centres, colleges and council buildings, including rooftops and building edges. Planned deployments include sites in the UK, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, the USA and Canada.

AirPlus says XEVA® is supplied largely fully assembled, with installation expected to take around 90 minutes for the main product. The company also says the design aims to reduce “wind blind spots” and make better use of airflow in urban settings where conventional turbines are often less effective.

The planned launch event later this year will showcase real-time performance data from selected deployments, which AirPlus says will be central to proving the technology’s value in different conditions.
