The German Federal Network Agency has launched

a solar power tender for 2,135 MW of ground-mounted solar

, with a bid deadline of 1 July 2026. The maximum bid price for this round is capped at EUR5.90c/kWh (German Federal Network Agency press release, 27/05/2026).

This auction is part of Germany's broader annual solar tender volume of 9,900 MW for 2026, which is distributed evenly across three bidding rounds throughout the year.  Regarding land eligibility, bids are accepted for open-space installations on agricultural land, including arable and grassland in disadvantaged areas. Ground-mounted solar on agricultural land remains fully eligible, as the currently registered capacity of 17.7 GW remains well below the 80 GW threshold that would trigger restrictions.

A notable point of

uncertainty

surrounds the

implementation of Solar Package I

, a legislative reform that introduced several significant changes to the tender framework. Three specific provisions are all pending European Commission state aid approval. They includes raising the maximum bid volume per bid from 20 MW to 50 MW, increasing premium values for special solar installations, and introducing a priority quota system for special installations in the award procedure. If this approval is not granted before 30 June 2026, the older regulatory framework predating 15 May 15 2024 will continue to apply for this round.
