MoP recommended the deployment of floating solar installations to address evaporation losses in PSP reservoirs and urged state governments to expedite site and water allocation and consider waiving green energy cess, water taxes and lease fees to accelerate PSP development.
The Ministry reported that a PSP potential of 224 GW has been identified nationwide. Of this, 10 PSPs totaling 7 GW have been commissioned, another 10 PSPs (12 GW) are under construction, and 56 PSPs (78 GW) are in various stages of planning and development. Key policy measures discussed include a 25-year waiver of inter-state transmission system charges for PSPs awarded before June 30, 2028, new guidelines simplifying site allotment and relaxing free power requirements.
