A new step toward expanding Montenegro’s renewable energy capacity was taken today with the signing of a contract to build the infrastructure required to connect the Tupan Solar Power Plant to the national transmission grid. The agreement was formalised between Ivan Asanović, Executive Director of CGES, and Predrag Prentić, representing S2P Elektric GMBH.

Under the contract, the parties defined the technical and operational conditions for integrating the future 70 MW solar facility into the transmission network, laying the groundwork for its efficient operation once commissioned.

The Tupan solar power plant is expected to play a meaningful role in strengthening domestic electricity production from renewable sources, improving the country’s energy security, and supporting broader efforts to diversify the energy system. The project is aligned with Montenegro’s long-term strategy to boost sustainable energy development and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

CGES stated that the implementation of this project reaffirms its commitment to expanding renewable energy and modernising the nation’s power infrastructure, while also contributing to a stronger investment climate in the energy sector. The signing ceremony was also attended by Dragan Perunović, Director of the Development and Investment Sector.
