PFC Consulting has floated a tender to establish a 3×500 MVA, 400/220 kV substation at Humnabad in Bidar district, Karnataka. The scope also includes the development of the associated transmission lines. The transmission system forms part of a broader plan to evacuate 12,580 MW of renewable energy. It involves three 765/400 kV substations and multiple 400/220 kV substations in north Karnataka to supply power to load centres in South Karnataka.
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work covers developing a 400/220 kV substation equipped with interconnecting transformers, bus reactors, and associated bays. It also involves transmission line works, including the loop-in loop-out (LILO) of the 400 kV YTPS–Kalaburagi double circuit line and 220 kV double circuit lines to Ganagapura and Santhapur substations, along with LILO of existing 220 kV lines from Sedam and Kapnoor. The substation will have a capacity of 3×500 MVA at the 400/220 kV level. Interconnection will be at 400 kV and 220 kV, while Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation will provide the required land.
The bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of Rs 104.2 million. The successful bidder must submit a performance guarantee of Rs 260.4 million within 10 days of issuance of the letter of intent. Furthermore, the bid submission deadline is April 14, 2026.
