SJVN Limited has issued a tender to set up a 265 MW/530 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Haryana under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme. The projects will be awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. The deadline for bid submission is August 21, 2026.

According to the tender specifications, the scope of work includes setting up the BESS project, including the transmission network up to the interconnection or delivery point, and obtaining all required approvals, permits and clearances. The developer will also be responsible for the interconnection of the BESS to the state transmission network, the construction of the bay, and the complete operation, maintenance, and safety of the project. The BESS will be charged using power supplied by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited and will inject power into its network in accordance with dispatch instructions issued by the state load despatch centre.

The selected projects will be eligible for VGF under two separate schemes. The 250 MW/500 MWh project component will receive VGF of up to Rs 1,800,000 per MWh through the power system development fund, while the 15 MW/30 MWh component will receive VGF of up to Rs 1,800,000 per MWh or 30 per cent of the capital cost, whichever is applicable, under the state component of the VGF scheme. The bidder must quote for the entire 265 MW/530 MWh capacity, comprising both project components. Furthermore, bidders are required to submit a bid processing fee of Rs 1,500,000 and an earnest money deposit of Rs 240,000 per MWh.
