Salt River Project and Aypa Power have commissioned the Pediment Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located in Mesa, Arizona. The BESS has an installed capacity of 250 MW/1,000 MWh. The facility can supply enough electricity to power up to 56,250 homes for four hours.

The Pediment project is the first of two BESS projects being developed by Aypa Power under contract with SRP. A second 250 MW/2,000 MWh lithium-ion BESS is scheduled to commence operation in December 2028. Together, the two projects will provide 500 MW/3,000 MWh of storage capacity to SRP’s system. The Pediment project also generated more than 200 jobs and is expected to contribute over $16 million in direct economic benefits during its first 20 years of operation.

In March 2026, Aypa Power together with Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, reached financial close for approximately $512 million to support the Elora and Hedley BESS projects in Ontario, Canada. The financing package has been arranged through an eight-bank syndicate of international and domestic lenders.
