Afdb Finances Expansion Of Kénitra – Marrakech Hsr Line

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has provided funding of EUR 205 million for the PADIF Rail Infrastructure Development Support Project, which encompasses the expansion of the Kénitra –Marrakech high-speed rail (HSR) line and the modernisation of the existing infrastructure. The funding will cover equipment for the renewal of infrastructure along the existing lines and the HSR line, as well as at the Casablanca railway junction. This includes new rails and other track components. The project also includes support for project management, construction supervision and the monitoring and evaluation of outcomes and impacts. It forms part of the national Rail 2040 plan to modernise the network.
