Helping Railway Workers and Their Families Get Back on Track

Railway Benefit Fund (RBF), the charity dedicated to supporting current, former and retired railway workers and their families, today published its latest Impact Report. The report reveals the charity delivered £2,757,683 in social value in 2025, supporting over 500 railway workers and their families across the UK with the practical help and stability needed to navigate financial pressures, improve wellbeing, and stay connected to their community.

The report highlights the breadth of support RBF provides, from preventing homelessness to reducing isolation, helping railway people stabilise their lives and move forward with confidence. Support delivered included financial grants, confidential advice, digital tools, and befriending services to railway workers and retirees across the UK.

2025 RBF Impact Report outlines these key findings from donation to impact:

Supporting the Railway Family at Every Stage of Life

RBF’s report reflects the growing financial pressures facing railway workers and their families, with the charity stepping in to provide practical, targeted support that helps people regain stability. Crucially, that support is not confined to retirees: 66% of those helped were current railway workers, and 65% were 50 years and under, demonstrating that RBF is there for the Railway Family at every stage of life.

“Seeing the real difference we make in people’s lives fills me with enormous pride. The rail industry’s generosity and commitment are at the heart of everything we achieve; it is your dedication that powers our ability to be there for railway people and their families through their most challenging moments, ensuring they have somewhere to turn and the support they need to face the future with hope,” said Jo Kaye, CEO of RBF.

How to Support RBF

RBF is funded through donations from rail employers, industry partners, individuals, and volunteers, and urges the sector to maintain its support as demand for its services continues to grow. Whether giving as an individual or an organisation, every contribution makes a real difference to people across the UK railway family.
