The recovery process continues for Jon Hauberg, director of product research and development for Deceuninck North America. Hauberg was severely injured in a fall that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and multiple skull fractures.

The 36-year Deceuninck veteran has since faced several setbacks, including emergency brain surgery, a serious brain infection that required additional surgery and months of intensive treatment, according to Diane Hansbury, marketing manager at Deceuninck North America. To help ease the financial burden of his extensive care, Hansbury established a GoFundMe campaign.

Despite the setbacks and financial strain, Hansbury writes that Hauberg has displayed the resilience and determination that have defined him throughout his life.

“His therapists often comment on his persistence,” she notes. “His family continues to see glimpses of the same sarcastic humor, quick wit and easygoing personality that have always made Jon who he is. He still follows Bearcats sports, still talks about the Reds and still manages to make the people around him smile.”

Per the GoFundMe campaign, Hauberg requires a wheelchair, assistance with daily activities and ongoing therapy. In addition to his treatment, Hauberg’s wife, Deb, was diagnosed with breast cancer and has undergone surgery and treatment while serving as his primary caregiver and advocate.
