A new coated glass line was commissioned in Northern Italy, spurred by a nearly $30 million investment from Şişecam. The new line will increase the company’s coated glass capacity in Italy from 6 million square meters to 12.5 million square meters. The move aims to satisfy rising European demand for coated glass.
Şişecam CEO Can Yücel says that by increasing coated architectural glass capacities in Eastern and Western Europe, the company will boost its service quality and the range of high-value products it offers in the European market.
“We are entering a phase where our investments to deliver higher-quality and more advanced products to our customers are starting to pay off,” adds Yücel.
The news follows the completion of a new coated glass line in
with an annual capacity of 6 million square meters. Following Italy, Şişecam will commission another coated glass line this year in Tarsus, Turkey, with an annual capacity of 7 million square meters. With this addition, the company’s global coated glass lines will increase to seven, raising total production capacity to 48.1 million square meters.
