Drax Group has completed the £548 million acquisition of Bluefield Solar Income Fund Limited (BSIF) in the UK. The transaction adds 900 MW of operating and under-construction solar and wind assets, along with a 2.9 GW gross development pipeline expected to be built over the next decade. Moreover, combined with Drax’s battery energy storage system and other renewable assets, the company’s renewable generation portfolio now exceeds 3 GW of capacity.

In July 2026, Drax completed a £2 million refurbishment of the Tongland hydro power station in Scotland. The power station forms a part of six hydroelectric facilities under the Galloway Hydro Scheme. Drax is also installing around 1,500 solar panels across the Galloway and Lanark hydro schemes, while progressing an £80 million upgrade of the Cruachan pumped storage power station and will also be supporting modernisation works at the Glenlee hydro site.

In February 2026, Drax signed a 15-year tolling agreement with Zenobē for a 200 MW/800 MWh four-hour battery energy storage system at Coalburn in Scotland. Under the agreement, Zenobē will be responsible for the construction, maintenance and availability of the project, while Drax will retain full operational control and dispatch rights. The project is expected to achieve commercial operation in 2028.
