GenusPlus Group Limited has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 200 MW/800 MWh Koolunga battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Australia (SA). Construction works are expected to commence shortly, with commissioning scheduled for September 2027.

Furthermore, the contract, valued at approximately AUD110 million, covers balance of plant works, and battery installation and commissioning. The project will be located around 6 km south-east of Koolunga and 7 km north-east of Brinkworth, and will be connected to SA’s electricity grid via approximately 1.2 km of high voltage cable linking to the 275 kV Brinkworth substation.

Equis Development Pte Limited, is developing the project and will act as its owner and operator. The system will comprise 444 Tesla Megapack units, and has been selected under Tender 3 of the Australian government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), a programme designed to accelerate investment in renewable energy and energy storage announced in September 2025.
