Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has invited tender for design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 150 MW/300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Kalikiri in Andhra Pradesh. The package is part of the larger programme for setting up 1,000 MW/2,000 MWh BESS capacity in Andhra Pradesh under tariff based competitive bidding supported through viability gap funding through PSDF. 

Furthermore, the bidding process will be conducted through domestic competitive bidding under a single stage two envelope e-procurement model and has been issued through an open tender invitation process with domestic financing. The deadline for bid submission has been scheduled for June 4, 2026.

In January 2026, POWERGRID issued a tender for the development of a 125 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS connected to the state transmission network. The project is being implemented on behalf of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited.
