Germany: Ziehl-Abegg, the German manufacturer of fans and drive motors, has reported preliminary business figures for 2025 showing revenue of $1.2 B (€1 B), up from $1.07 B (€893 M) the previous year. The company recorded year-on-year growth of over 12 %, while its global workforce rose from 5,300 to around 5,800 employees.
According to chief executive Joachim Ley, the year was marked by difficult external conditions. Exchange rate movements, tariffs and geopolitical uncertainty affected many markets, and profitability was under pressure, although the company does not disclose earnings figures.
International operations made a significant contribution to overall performance. The United States became Ziehl-Abegg’s largest foreign market, accounting for more than 20 % of total revenue. A $120 M (€100 M) investment launched in 2024 to build a new production facility supported supply capabilities in North America. China remained the second-largest foreign market, where the company focused on locally adapted products amid strong competition.
In 2025, Ziehl-Abegg developed a synchronous elevator machine that operates without rare-earth magnets while retaining the same performance and installation size. The design aims to reduce dependency on critical raw materials and limit exposure to supply risks.
The company continues to rely on a high level of in-house production, including its own foundry and component manufacturing. Its products are used in applications such as HVAC systems, refrigeration, elevators, cleanrooms, agriculture and medical technology, and are sold in more than 100 countries.
