Hitachi Rail has signed a contract for a value of ~ EUR 168M for the design, development, supply, installation, and commissioning of the railway systems of the Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo corridor. The contract is part of the Mexican Government's ambitious program to reactivate and expand passenger rail transport in the country and will boost regional economic development.

The scope of the contract includes:

. Signaling and track protection systems based on the ETCS Level 1 standard, which guarantee high levels of reliability, interoperability, and operational efficiency.

. Advanced telecommunications systems, transmission networks, and CCTV solutions to ensure the reliable and continuous operation of the service.

. SCADA systems for real-time supervision and control of the infrastructure.

. Comprehensive equipment for 13 passenger stations, as well as for inspection and conditioning areas, workshops, and depots.

. Implementation of an Operational Control Center (OCC) and its backup center, which will allow centralized and coordinated management of railway operations.

All these components make up a next-generation railway infrastructure, framed within Phase I of the national passenger train program.

In Mexico, Hitachi Rail has been carrying out transportation activities for 55 years, in projects such as the Mexico City Metro Mass Transit System, the Suburban Train, the Mexico-Toluca Interurban "El Insurgente" and ticketing systems, generating highly qualified local employment and supporting the development of sustainable transportation in the country.

This award represents a new milestone in Hitachi Rail's trajectory in Mexico, where the company continues to contribute to the implementation of international standards of interoperability and operational efficiency in the railway sector, bringing its global experience in signaling and telecommunications systems to ensure that the Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo corridor operates with the highest levels of reliability.

The company thus reaffirms its commitment to the transformation of railway mobility and innovation in Mexico, actively contributing to the economic development of the northeast of the country and promoting more sustainable, reliable, and connected transportation solutions that transform the way people move and contribute to economic and social development.
