Queensland’s newest train station, Hope Island, is now open.  

It’s the second of three new stations for the Gold Coast Line, introduced with the aim of providing better connections for South East Queensland’s growing population.  

Hope Island Station features 210 parking spaces, an accessible entry plaza with lifts to each platform, a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure, lighting, and CCTV throughout.   

Trains started stopping at the station’s platforms on Monday morning for the first time. 

Members of the community, who previously had to travel to Coomera or Helensvale to catch a train, will now have more convenient travel options. 

Local bus timetables have been updated to maintain connectivity, with extended alignments and operating hours on existing services, as well as the introduction of a new bus route.  

Minor timetable changes have been made at other Gold Coast Line train stations to include the new Hope Island station stop.   

Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said the new station and bus connections would bring a host of benefits to the region.  

“Hope Island station will help ease congestion on our roads by providing convenient train services to the Gold Coast, Brisbane City, and beyond,” he said. 

“It will also relieve pressure on Helensvale station, currently the busiest train station outside Brisbane CBD.”  

Hope Island station is one of three new train stations being delivered on the Gold Coast as part of the Cross River Rail project. Pimpama station opened in October 2025, and Merrimac station is under construction.   

Premier David Crisafulli said the Government is delivering a “generational” transformation of the state’s rail infrastructure.  

“With projects like Cross River Rail, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, and The Wave on the Sunshine Coast, we’re building the public transport network Queenslanders need for 2032 and beyond.”
