The Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand (PTAANZ) has welcomed global infrastructure and mobility company Egis as its 100th member, marking a major milestone as the organisation doubles in size in just three years. PTAANZ represents a workforce of more than 150,000 people across the multi-billion-dollar public transport industry and is the premier peak industry body for public transport and sustainable mobility in Australia and New Zealand.

PTAANZ Chair Sally Stannard said the milestone reflected the growing importance of collaboration as cities and regions respond to population growth, connecting communities and helping their cities and regions thrive. “Public transport is entering a defining decade across Australia and New Zealand. Investment is accelerating, community expectations are rising and the industry is working together in collaborative new ways,” Ms Stannard said. “With cost-of-living pressures front of mind for many households, reliable, accessible and affordable public transport networks play an important role in keeping people connected to jobs, education and essential services without adding to household costs. Reaching 100 members highlights the strength of the sector and the value of bringing leaders together to champion ideas and help shape the future of mobility.”

PTAANZ CEO Lauren Streifer said the organisation’s rapid growth reflected the scale of opportunity in the region. “In just three years we have almost doubled the size of the association, reflecting the strong momentum across Australia and New Zealand’s public transport industry,” Ms Streifer said. “Through PTAANZ, Australia and New Zealand’s transport leaders work together at one top table across every sustainable mode – rail, bus, ferries, light rail and active transport – focused on delivering the future our communities and growing cities and regions deserve. We connect our region’s leaders with global leaders tackling the biggest climate, customer and mobility challenges of our time.”
