road-bridgeThe 14.02 km stretch lies between design chainage 14.950 km and 28.970 km and forms part of the proposed outer ring road that will encircle Nashik. The broader ring road is being implemented at an estimated cost of around Rs 76.13 bn including land acquisition and civil works. Authorities have positioned the corridor as a central component of the city’s infrastructure upgrade plan.
The initiative is linked to preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled in 2027, with a target to make the corridor operational by March 2027. The timetable is aimed at ensuring the ring road can support the large influx of pilgrims and reduce pressure on the urban transport network. Completion of the corridor is expected to be a key factor in traffic management during the event.
The proposed alignment passes through DRDO Junction, Dindori Road, Gangapur Road, Trimbak Road and Vilholi, connecting major highways and enabling traffic to bypass congested inner urban areas. By diverting through traffic away from the city centre the ring road is intended to improve mobility for local residents and incoming visitors. Officials have noted that peripheral routes are critical in handling high-volume transit flows.
The package will be executed under the EPC model, which assigns responsibility for design, procurement and construction to the contractor and allows integrated execution across multiple segments. For SRM Contractors the contract adds to its existing order book and strengthens its presence in Maharashtra’s road construction sector. Progress in award and execution of packages will determine whether the corridor is delivered in time for the 2027 event.
