The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has successfully installed a 58-metre prefabricated steel span above National Highway 9 and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway near Noida Electronic City Metro station.Positioned approximately 14 metres above the busy road network, the steel structure was erected between piers 384 and 385 without interrupting highway traffic. The operation required specialised machinery, temporary steel trestles and support beams to carefully pull the span into position from the Indirapuram side.

The installation was particularly challenging because the structure had to pass beneath an active high-tension overhead power line.The steel span forms part of a new reversal facility for Delhi Metro’s Blue Line. Once completed, the facility will allow trains to change direction after finishing their trips, improving operational efficiency and train movement.

A second steel span measuring 73 metres is expected to be installed later in 2026. Civil construction for the reversal facility is also targeted for completion by year-end, followed by track laying, electrification and other system-related work.The project marks a major engineering milestone for DMRC and highlights the growing role of prefabricated structural steel in complex urban infrastructure development.
