steelConstruction work for JSW Steel’s massive Rs 65,000 crore integrated steel plant project officially began at Dhinkia in Odisha, marking one of India’s largest industrial investments in the steel sector. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the construction activities, highlighting the project’s importance for regional development, employment generation, and industrial growth.
The upcoming steel facility is expected to significantly strengthen India’s steel production capacity while supporting downstream industries and infrastructure development. Industry officials stated that the integrated plant will include advanced steel manufacturing units, modern logistics infrastructure, and large-scale support facilities designed to improve operational efficiency and production capabilities. The project is also expected to create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities while boosting economic activity across the Jagatsinghpur region. Odisha continues to attract major steel investments due to its rich mineral reserves, port connectivity, and strong industrial ecosystem.
Analysts believe the JSW Steel project will further reinforce Odisha’s position as a leading steel manufacturing hub in India. The investment aligns with India’s broader industrial growth strategy focused on infrastructure expansion, manufacturing development, and increased domestic steel production capacity. The launch comes after years of land-related challenges and protests in the Dhinkia area, making the beginning of construction a major milestone for both the company and the state’s industrial ambitions.
