Tata Steel UK has appointed Welsh contractor Morganstone to deliver the civil and structural package for the new Pickle Line at its Port Talbot steelworks. The contract marks a major step for Project Invictus, shifting the site from demolition work to the main construction phase.

Morganstone will handle the installation of the process section, a critical part of the Pickle Line that requires major structural steelwork on new foundations. The upgraded facility will support pickling and rinse tanks used to remove scale from steel through hydrochloric acid treatment.

The appointment also highlights Tata Steel UK’s focus on supporting local Welsh businesses during the transformation of the Port Talbot steel site. Construction is expected to begin next week, while new Pickle Line equipment is scheduled to arrive soon.
