Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SHARAKAT) has received international recognition after winning the “Public Water Agency of the Year 2025” award at the Global Water Awards 2025 organised by Global Water Intelligence (GWI). The award was presented during a ceremony held in Madrid.

The recognition marks another milestone for SHARAKAT, following previous wins in 2019 and 2023, and highlights the company’s continued leadership in developing water infrastructure projects through public-private partnerships.

SHARAKAT received the award for its role in enabling private sector participation and strengthening the kingdom’s water project ecosystem. Its efforts include advancing public-private partnerships, improving operational efficiency and promoting sustainability in line with international best practices.

In a further achievement, the Shuaibah 3 Independent Water Plant Conversion Project received the “Desalination Plant of the Year 2025” award at the same event. The project was recognised as the world’s largest desalination conversion project transitioning from multi-stage flash (MSF) technology to reverse osmosis (RO), and for being completed ahead of schedule.

Eng Khaled Alqureshi, chief executive officer of Saudi Water Partnerships Company, said the achievement reflects the company’s significant progress throughout 2025, including the signing of new project agreements, achieving financial close on key developments and commissioning strategic projects.

He added that the recognition also reflects the effectiveness of the public-private partnership model in enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency across the water sector.

Alqureshi further credited the achievement to the continued support of the kingdom’s leadership, guidance from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and collaboration between public and private sector partners to strengthen water security and sustainability in Saudi Arabia.
