Uehara takes on the leadership role as the company marks its 100th anniversary.

In a statement marking his appointment, Uehara reflected on the company’s heritage and future direction, noting its origins near Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest lake. He emphasized Toray’s longstanding mission of contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies, and products.

Looking ahead, Uehara acknowledged both the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. "As our water treatment business stands at a new starting point toward the next 50 and 100 years, I have been assigned as the leader of the Water Treatment and Environmental Division, and [am] fully committed to expanding our business, advancing the water treatment industry, and contributing to society through these efforts."
