FactoryVelo3D has plans to expand its metal additive manufacturing production operations with a new manufacturing facility in Livermore, California. The company develops metal additive manufacturing technology and produces mission-critical metal components.
The new Livermore Production Campus encompasses 288,747 square feet and is expected to become operational later this year. It will serve as the company's primary production and manufacturing center, while its Fremont headquarters will continue to support research and development, applications engineering, process development, customer collaboration, prototyping, and qualification activities.
Approximately 270,000 square feet of the new campus is dedicated to manufacturing space with 36-foot clear heights, providing nearly 10 million cubic feet of production volume. The facility is designed to accommodate more than 40 large-format metal additive manufacturing systems at launch, with infrastructure to support more than 100 systems over the next several years.
In addition to additive manufacturing capacity, the facility will support machine manufacturing, in-house post-processing operations and production-scale manufacturing of mission-critical components. According to the company, the expansion is intended to help customers scale production, accelerate qualification timelines, and strengthen supply chains. Combined with the Fremont campus, Velo3D expects the two locations to support up to 125 additive manufacturing systems across its manufacturing operations.
In a recent quote, Arun Jeldi, chief executive officer, Velo3D, said,"This expansion is a reflection of the increasing demand we are seeing from customers who want to move beyond prototyping and qualification into production. Our customers are looking for more than technology. They are looking for a trusted partner that can help them qualify applications, scale production, strengthen supply chains, and accelerate innovation. Fremont will continue serving as our center for engineering, process development, and qualification, while Livermore becomes a cornerstone of our production strategy. Together, these facilities create a powerful manufacturing ecosystem that helps customers move from concept to production faster while leveraging the technology, expertise, and solutions that make Velo3D unique."
