In the affirmative , posted in early February by the U.S. International Trade Administration (ITA), officials found reasonable cause to determine that float glass products from China and Malaysia are “likely to be” sold in the U.S. at less than fair value. As such, ITA levied a China-wide antidumping rate of 181.5%, though dozens of companies face a 151.3% rate, and set the Malaysia-wide antidumping duty rate at 8.8%. Chinese exporters of float glass also face an average 19.8% countervailable subsidy rate, with several companies facing rates reaching into the triple digits. While few contractors anticipate a sharp rebound in 2026, most are cautiously optimistic, thanks to stable backlogs, improving predictability and continued demand in high-value market segments. At the top of this year’s rankings, Harmon Inc. once again holds the No. 1 position, posting sales of $436 million, compared to $404 million last year. Enclos Corp. reclaimed the No. 2 spot. Other notable changes in the top tier include the Flynn Group of Companies, which rose from No. 6 to No. 4, while New Hudson Facades moved from No. 3 to No. 5. Several additional changes further highlight how firms are adjusting to shifting conditions. USGlass Magazine2 min readThe Dodge Momentum Index (DMI), issued by Dodge Construction Network (DCN), fell 6.3% in January, as commercial planning declined 7.2% and institutional planning dropped by 4.4%. Year-over-year, the DMI was up 29% when compared to January 2025. The commercial segment was up 26% and the institutional segment was up 34% over the same period. The DMI is a monthly measure based on the three-month moving value of nonresidential building projects going into planning. It is shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year to 18 months. “Planning momentum cooled in January across most commercial and institutional sectors,” says Sarah Martin, DCN’s associate director of forecasting. “Data center projects continue to lead the way, but after elevated activity in late 2025, most nonresidential sectors are now easing into a more sustainable growth pattern.” DCN officials write that planning momentum slowed across all commercial sectors apart from retail stores. USGlass Magazine2 min readThe North American architectural glass industry remained lackluster in the waning months of 2025, notes NSG Group, which recently released its fiscal year 2026 third-quarter (Q3) earnings results. The report shows that the glass manufacturer’s architectural glass division recorded a cumulative (nine months to December 2025) 10.3% increase in operating profit but a decrease (-1.4%) in revenue. In the third quarter, NSG’s architectural glass division reported an increase in revenue and profit, partially due to higher sales prices in Europe. In North America, the commercial market continues to be muted, though NSG managed to keep sales prices high by passing higher energy and raw material costs on to customers. According to NSG’s report, architectural glass revenues increased in the Americas, but operating profit decreased for the cumulative period, while both showed better results in the third quarter. DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy will fund three programs that aim to develop energy storage technologies, promote early career energy innovators and cut energy waste. Within the $30 million allotted, $5 million is for four projects under the Galvanizing Leaps in Advanced Super Insulating Glass (GLASING) program. The program is designed to research new technologies that can cut energy costs for homeowners and businesses by developing window technology that prevents energy loss. To reduce those numbers, the glass industry has fabricated specialized architectural glass and has worked with regulators to produce guides and standards. This includes the addition of “ ” in ASHRAE 189.1 and the International Green Construction Code. The addendum was approved by ASHRAE and the American National Standards Institute on Jan. 30, 2026. It introduces a new bird-friendly design requirement for building facades to promote uniformity around glazing requirements. Video shows the vehicle turn right and speed toward the departure terminal abruptly, crashing through a set of glass doors and slamming into the ticket counter. Six people were injured, and the driver was arrested. The incident prompted a review of safety measures. Those measures include the installation of dozens of 9,000-pound concrete barricades. “I’ve been with the airport for 27 years, and what occurred on January 23 at the McNamara Terminal is unprecedented,” says Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton in a statement following the incident. “It has definitely changed our security posture.” Newton notes that the terminal featured design elements aimed to prevent a crash, but they “turned out to be inadequate to stop the car.”
