PM Green Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Mech Projects Limited, has secured a contract from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) for the development of a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in West Bengal.
The project has been awarded by the Department of Power, Government of West Bengal and will be implemented under a build, own and operate model with a 100 per cent offtake guarantee from WBSEDCL. The scope of work includes design, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of a 250 MW/1,000 MWh BESS facility at the Goaltore substation in Paschim Medinapore. The contract also includes a greenshoe option for an additional 250 MW/1,000 MWh BESS project to be developed at the Durgapur Projects Limited campus in Durgapur.
The total revenue from the project is estimated at Rs 31.26 billion including the greenshoe option. The construction period is 18 months from the signing of the battery energy storage purchase agreement.
