Indian public sector organization BEMLAs part of India's efforts to modernize its railway infrastructure, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) BEML has signed a significant $215 million contract with the company. This agreement positions BEML as a leader in the rolling stock market and is seen as a strategic step towards meeting the country's growing demand for advanced trains.
The contract is for electric trains to run on various routes across India. Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) This includes the supply of passenger coaches. LHB coaches have been manufactured in India since 2002 and are known for their ability to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. These modern coaches will replace the country's aging railway fleet and offer passengers greater safety and comfort.
Another significant aspect of the agreement is that BEML is developing India's first indigenously designed high-speed train, capable of reaching speeds of 280 km/h. Under the contract, two of these state-of-the-art trainsets will be delivered to ICF by 2026. This represents a major step toward India's goal of developing a high-speed rail network.
Experts say this collaboration between BEML and ICF will accelerate the modernization of India's railway fleet. Adoption of new technologies and infrastructure improvements will improve service reliability and align the country's railway network with global standards.
