New digital information screens have been installed at four North Norfolk stations to help visitors access local travel, tourism and visitor information.

The touchscreens have been installed at Sheringham, Cromer, Hoveton & Wroxham and North Walsham stations, thanks to a £47,778 grant from Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund.

The project, submitted by North Norfolk District Council, was approved in July 2025. The screens are now in place and are expected to be fully commissioned within the next two weeks.

Once live, passengers and visitors will be able to use the screens to access information about local attractions, businesses, events, tourist information and maps of the local area, helping them make the most of their time in North Norfolk.

The project has also been enhanced through partnership working with Norfolk County Council, with live onward bus departure information being included to improve connections between local bus and rail services.

The screens will be managed by Visit North Norfolk ahead of the summer season.

The Greater Anglia-funded project has also helped support a wider programme of visitor information improvements across the area, with other connected screens being commissioned by the Broads Authority, Community Rail Norfolk and an increasing number of destinations and market towns. The wider project is valued at more than £140,000.

Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund supports initiatives that deliver community benefits and enhance rail’s positive role in society. This is one of 28 grant-funded projects delivered in the last year.

The fund supports a wide range of schemes, from station enhancements and integrated transport projects to education, biodiversity, arts, heritage and community rail initiatives. The key requirement is that projects benefit both the community and the railway.

“By improving access to local visitor and onward travel information, we can help make rail journeys easier, better connected and more useful for local communities and visitors.”

The project also supports the wider move towards GBR Anglia, with c2c, Greater Anglia and Network Rail Anglia working more closely together under one leadership team as part of the region’s journey towards Great British Railways.
