Civic sources indicate the work may be completed within six months despite the monsoon, reflecting an intent to accelerate public infrastructure alongside the operational Coastal Road. The tender attracted a single bidder, Forcon Infra Pvt Ltd, and the authority expects to award the contract to that firm. Implementation will focus on pedestrian and cyclist access as well as a carriageway for emergency and service vehicles.

The link will extend the uninterrupted promenade that currently runs from Priyadarshini Park to Lotus Jetty, offering improved routes for walkers, joggers and cyclists and enhancing recreational use of the reclaimed shoreline. It will also provide access to a planned police outpost and a fire brigade facility near Samudra Mahal, improving emergency response capability in the precinct. Neighbourhood connectivity for communities such as Samudra Mahal, Poonam Chambers and Shivsagar Estate is expected to strengthen as a result.

Urban planners view the completion as part of a strategy to integrate mobility infrastructure with public open spaces, increasing civic amenities along the western coast. The stretch is intended to serve multiple functions by combining recreational use with practical access for emergency services and service operations. The removal of the final break in the promenade is presented as enhancing the long term value and usability of the Coastal Road corridor.
