Engineering teams have begun preparing lists of roads to be taken up for relaying and repairs, with priority to be accorded to stretches that show advanced wear and those flagged by local members of the legislative assembly. Work will target both urban thoroughfares and peripheral service roads that have developed potholes despite existing annual maintenance contracts. Authorities indicated that local representatives would help identify urgent sections.

The fresh allocation comes even as progress remains slow under two state-funded road infrastructure programmes, officials noted. Project administrators said bottlenecks in procurement and contractor mobilisation have delayed scheduled relays at several locations. The additional grant is intended to accelerate on-ground activity and supplement funds for routine and corrective maintenance.

City managers outlined plans to coordinate with traffic police to schedule works so as to minimise disruption and to sequence relaying on high-traffic corridors during off-peak periods. Engineers will monitor road condition and apply condition-based selection, prioritising stretches that have recorded recurrent waterlogging and surface failures. The authority will deploy resurfacing crews under the capital works plan with oversight from state agencies. The authority plans phased implementation to coordinate with utility repairs and to align with the monsoon schedule to reduce rework.
