Officials said the event featured the inauguration and foundation laying of national highway projects worth in excess of Rs 48.5 bn. The newly sanctioned works include bypasses for cities with populations above 0.5 mn and plans to provide four-lane road connectivity to every district headquarters in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities indicated that the measures are intended to plug gaps in north-south movement while complementing the existing east-west expressway network.

Adityanath outlined that Uttar Pradesh already benefits from extensive east-west links such as the Purvanchal, Ganga, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow and Gorakhpur Link expressways and said identified stretches will now be prioritised to strengthen north-south corridors. He attributed recent infrastructure momentum to improved governance and the central government's support, and he expressed gratitude to Gadkari and other union ministers for facilitating approvals. Officials added that the programme is expected to accelerate regional economic activity and improve logistics efficiency.

The chief minister noted that the event included the inauguration of the 63-km Lucknow-Kanpur Greenfield Expressway, which is intended to enhance connectivity between Lucknow and Kanpur and link surrounding districts including Barabanki, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao and Rae Bareli. He placed the new approvals alongside recent inaugurations such as the Ganga Expressway and Noida International Airport at Jewar, presenting them as part of an integrated transport expansion that spans roads, rail, metro and waterways.
